Bamboo Flooring
Bamboo is a very practical choice for flooring. Unlike many species of hardwood, bamboo is an environmentally sustainable resource. Whilst the bamboo plant is a type of grass, bamboo flooring behaves much like wood flooring. Bamboo takes 3-10 years to mature into usable flooring material compared to at least 20 years, and often greater than 50 years, for hardwood to mature making it the preferred choice for anyone concerned with deforestation. Strand woven bamboo is the densest type of bamboo flooring. A heating process using resin and adhesives bonds the grass into tightly woven strands that are 3 times stronger than any other form of bamboo.

Engineered wood flooring is the perfect alternative to solid hardwood flooring. Whilst retaining the obvious features of real wood, engineered flooring is more reasonably priced and eco-friendly as much more flooring can be manufactured from each tree. It is easy to install and doesn’t require sanding and polishing so can be lived on immediately. Engineered flooring is dimensionally more stable than solid hardwood so is less likely to warp with changes in humidity. Engineered flooring is available in many species including oaks, blackbutt, blue gum, hickory, spotted gum, jarrah, and Tasmanian Oak, as well as coloured to suit any décor.

Hybrid flooring is the latest in floating floor technology. Hybrid flooring is rapidly becoming the preferred choice in new builds and renovations as it combines the best properties of laminate and vinyl flooring to provide an extremely hard-wearing and 100% water-resistant floor. Unlike conventional timber and timber-look flooring, hybrid can be used in wet areas such as bathrooms and kitchens allowing a consistent finish throughout the home. Hybrid flooring is available in a range of formats such as vinyl laminated onto rigid core stone polymer composite (SPC) or wood polymer composite (WPC) core and comes complete with an acoustic underlay.

Laminate flooring has evolved over the years to become a very hard, durable flooring option less susceptible to wear and tear from pets and foot traffic. Improvements in technology have seen decreases in emissions and moisture sensitivity whilst the surface coating of the laminate flooring not only improves scratch resistance and ease of maintenance but also protects the colour from fading due to UV light keeping it looking good for many years. Good quality laminate flooring combines the latest in imaging technology with embossed-in-register (EIR) textures that mimic the real look and feel of traditional hardwoods.
